jahja collection

The name Jahja is from a mystical sailing ship that sails on coal black nights, across the waters of the Coral Sea, Terra Australis Incognito. She is a black ship that flies a long black penant emblazened with a 'black-jack' (scull and crossbones). It carries a very high quarterdeck and flies a red swallow tailed ensign.

If you wish to see this fine vessel, you have to sail south across the crystal blue waters, of the Coral Sea, south by east, past the dreaded Murdering Islands,..as you leave the Islands in your wake a lighthouse light will appear on your port bow, cast an eye over your starboard rails, abreast will be Cape Kidnapper... sail west by south, for three leagues into the mouth of Black Snake River. If the tide is against you anchor here and wait for the incoming tide. Aweigh anchor 2 hours before tide is full. Lay a course upstream 296 degrees magnetic, passing between Mosquito and Sandfly Islands, then turn a quarter to port. There is a narrow passage between the tall mangroves, steer through whats known as Alligator Passage (channel lies to the west shore of Alligator Passage). As the passage opens onto the river, dead ahead are the rocks of Humbug Point. Turn hard to Port giving the rocks a wide berth... continue another league until river bends sharply at Devils Elbow, hug the inside shore, it is steep and jaggered but has 3 fathoms across it at datum (Spring low tide). A grassy plain opens to the north. A creek is on your starboard beam. Look along this creek, you will see a tall ship with habour furled sails, a black transom with a big wooden rudder betwixt ornate stern lights, upon which the name 'Jahja' is carved into the sternplate. . .

We are inspired and excited by its enigmatic charisma.
